(CNN)Us Citizenship and Clearing Services Director L. Francis Cissna is leaving the bureau in the wake of a major shakeup in the final month amongst the leadership at the Department of Homeland Security, according to an email sent to bureau employees Friday evening.
"At the asking of the President, I submitted my resignation today effective June ane, 2019," he wrote.
USCIS spokesman Dan Hetlage confirmed Cissna's resignation.
